Huawei working to develop 5G technology

As people across the world get used to the fourth generation (4G) mobile technology, Chinese equipment maker Huawei Technologies has said it is working on the fifth generation (5G), which is likely to be available for use by 2020.

The widespread adoption of 5G may be more than seven years away but it is still one of the top priorities in Huawei's research and development investment, according to Tong Wen, the company's 5G technology chief.
Wen, who was speaking to the Wall Street Journal, said that Huawei started work on its 5G network technology in 2009He said that the deployment of 5G networks would encounter many key challenges, such as access to much more spectrum than is currently available to mobile operators. The company said presently 200 people are working on the project and it has earmarked a specified amount for the research and development of the technology. It, however, refused to share details about the amount to be spent for the development of the technology.

Huawei Technologies official Wen Tong said that by 2020, there will be billions of connections and 5G can provide massive connectivity. The technology will enable people to have a fibre network like user experience on a wireless connection.

It can provide speed of 10 GBps, which is 100 times faster than the mobile technology used these days, Tong added.

South Korean giant Samsung has also announced that it has successfully tested 5G technology and it will be ready for commercial roll-out by 2020.

Mobile operators across the world have started moving towards the high-speed long term evolution (LTE) or 4G networks and Huawei provides equipment to 85 such networks.

The company is also undertaking a trial run to test the speed on its 4G technology on high speed MagLev train in Shanghai.

Huawei has deployed an LTE network to support wireless connectivity on the train, which runs between the centre of the Shanghai district to the International Airport. The total length of the track is 31 km and the train achieves a speed of up to 431 km per hour.

The company said on that speed, its 4G technology can provide a download speed of up to 50 MBps.

Vodafone Huawei Ascend Mate coming soon

Vodafone UK recently announced its intentions of making the Huawei Ascend Mate available through its network. Huawei that’s known for its budget-friendly smartphones has turned its attention towards delivering high-end devices with top-tier specifications and rich Android experiences. Vodafone UK will soon expand its portfolio of phablets with the addition of the Huawei Ascend Mate, the company announced in a blog post. The Huawei Ascend Mate is headed to the UK and the 6.1-inch giant will soon be up for grabs through Vodafone. The Huawei smartphone had been unveiled at the CES this year, showing off its large screen which had drawn much attention then. However, we cannot really count that as the gadget’s high point any more, considering the presence of devices like the Sony Xperia Z Ultra and Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 in the market. But a massive 4,050mAh battery which the phone packs is what should give it an edge over its rivals. This is exactly what James Powell, the company’s product director, has emphasized on when speaking about the handset. Commenting on the significance of a power pack in a device, he said that the manufacturer has conjured its own patented technologies for battery optimization called Quick Power Control and Automated Discontinuous Reception.Powell went on to add that this should sanction an increased battery life by up to 30 percent as compared to any conventional smartphone. What remains to be seen is whether the OEM’s very own 1.5GHz quad core Hi-Silicon K3V2 processor found in the Huawei Ascend Mate, will be able to survive in the reign of Qualcomm and Nvidia chipsets.Vodafone hasn’t given out specifics regarding the price and availability information of the Ascend Mate as of now. The smartphone’s unlocked variant is out on Expansys at £344.99 and Amazon at £359.99.Seen below is a list of the smartphone’s core specifications:

Huawei Honour 3 leak

The Huawei Honor 3 has surfaced on the web in its full glory through some leaked images and we have managed to lay our hands on the device’s specs list as well, apart from its pictures. This Huawei contender comes across as a high-end smartphone complete with the ability to resist spills and splashes.  Huawei is said to bring a waterproof handset in the coming days. The Chinese major, who goes into top with two mind blowing Android powered phones earlier in the year, is now ready bring Huawei Honor 3. The makers behind Ascend P6 wanted to show Japanese titan Sony that they are also capable of making a waterproof phone. The device, however, looks like a mid -end affair. Gforgames got its hands on some alleged images of Huawei Honor 3. The handset is made of plastic having a 4.7-inch display. The site further claims that the phone also packs Infrared blaster. It is now common to see tech vendors integrating more and more unique features. The HTC One and the Samsung Galaxy S4 comes with Infrared blaster. The Honor 3 will have a 4.7-inch 720p HD display along with 1.5GHz quad -core processor made by Huawei. Performance wise, it won't disturb you considering the makers have placed 2GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. For New Smartphones Gallery The internal storage can be further expanded via microSD card. In the camera department, the Honor 3 is said to have a 13-mega pixel rear shooter and on the front panel - 1.3-mega pixel camera allows to chat. The phone will be power by Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean with Emotion 1.6 UI on the top. As of now, it is not known whether the device will be dustproof or not. Late last month, Chinese site MyDrivers, published few images of Honor 3. Interestingly, the white variant of Honor 3 is known, as of now. It is to be seen whether India gets Honor 3 in the coming months. Huawei is serious about India and the company has planned to launch few more handsets later in the year. The guys over at Gforgames have unearthed the Huawei Honor 3 smartphone’s photos, while some of its specifications had come to light back in June itself. If the rumors doing the rounds are to be believed, the handset in question will be outfitted with a 4.7-inch multi-touch screen capable of rendering visuals in 720p resolution. As far as the system memory is concerned, the phone has 2 whole gigabytes at its disposal. A 1.5GHz quad core processor may hide under the hood and the Huawei Honor 3 is expected to take the assistance of the Android Jelly Bean 4.2.2 OS. This platform is likely to be garnished with the Emotion 1.6 UI as well. The Honor 3 is yet to go official and naturally its price and availability details are under wraps.
