Lately Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chipsets can be found in almost all walks of life when it comes to mobile devices. And the company is reaping the benefits with a record breaking quarter.
The company has posted some $6.24 billion in revenue for the quarter ending in June, up 35% compared to the same quarter last year.
Not only can Snapdragon be found powering many of today’s flagships, like the HTC One and Samsung Galaxy S4, but it;s also featured in the entire line of Windows Phone 8 devices released this year.
The company shipped some 172 million MSM chips, which is an increase of 22% over the same quarter last year. The company was able to return some $1.64 billion of capital to stockholders, including $0.35 per share in dividends and $1.04 billion through repurchases of 16.7 million shares of stock.
Qualcomm also reports an operating cash flow of $2.08 billion, which is up 125% YoY, as well as an operating income of $1.68 billion, up 21% compared to the previous years’ quarter. We delivered another strong quarter as our Qualcomm Snapdragon solutions were prominent in a broad set of flagship smartphones, and 3G/4G device average selling prices were stronger than expected. We also focused on return of capital to stockholders and increased our stock repurchases and dividends paid during the quarter. This quarter, we continued our technology leadership, with our Snapdragon 800 processor powering the world's first LTE-Advanced smartphone. Snapdragon has been the proverbial golden goose for the San Diego based company, and unless Intel’s Bay Trail has something to say about it, we’ll like likely see quarters like this from Qualcomm at least until the end of the year.
