Google makes acquisition of Waze for $1.3 Billion

Waze, designed by an Israeli start-up Waze Mobile , which is a GPS-based navigational app that uses turn-by-turn navigation, as well as user submitted travel times and route details has now been bought by Google for $1.3BILLION. It supports Android, iOS , BB10 and Symbian. "We are excited about the prospects of working with Google Maps to enhance our search capabilities and to join them in their efforts to make the best map of the world" said Noam Bardin, CEO of Waze. He also added that nothing practically will change and they would maintain company brand and standards. The burden of geting more from the investment now lies on to Google. The reason given to sell the app was that an IPO appeared the route that would take the company into being focused on return and less on growing as a product.
This is a double gain for Google as the purchase comes in the wake of what appeared to be failed negotiations between Waze and two giant rivals viz Apple and Facebook(Both companies never publicly confirmed interest in Waze)
From the social sight of view, this is also very good opportunity for Google to add up Waze to Google+ . This might allow users not only to check in but also upload photos and several other things
Acquisition of Waze by Google can be a major blow to Facebook as Facebook had recently made a giant leap in the Mobile World.
