Google Glass is a wearable computer with and optic head mount display(like your goggles) that has been developed by Google in the project Glass research and development project with the mission of producing a mass market ubiquitous computer. It displays info in a smartphone like handsfree format, that can interact with the internet via natural language voice commands. While the frames dont have lenses fitted to them Google is considering partnership with sunglass retailers like Ray-Ban and may also open a retail store to allow customers to try on the device. The explorer edition cannot be used by people who wear prescription glasses. But google has confirmed that Glass will eventually work with frames and lenses that match user's prescription, the glass will be modular and therefore possibly attachable to normal prescription glasses. The main FEATURES was that it is voice-controlled and has a 5MP camera and also can record voice and video it also has WiFi , Bluetooth and 1GB of ram. To activate the glass, the user just has to tilt the head upwards and say "Ok Glass". Once the glass is activated, wearers can say an action such as "take a picture", " record a video" , "Hangout with....","google , in what year was Wikipedia founded?" ," Whats is the height of Effiel Tower" etc
The talk is that Google Glass may soon be as omnipresent as iPhone. People will be seen walking down the street, grocery store and riding a the subway with the wearable tech on their faces. 21.6M US online consumers or 12% of the population is already willing to wear the glasses if made by a reliable company. Unfortunately it wont be available for us until late 2014. More than half of the population willing to buy these glasses belong to Gen-Y and are interested in high tech eye ware for utility based apps like navigation camera and place and product information. Other early adapters will be people who could work with the hands free device like doctors.
